Interval Analysis – An Application to Solvent Design
نویسنده
چکیده
This presentation discusses the use of an interval analysis based global optimization approach for the systematic design of cleaning solvent blends (commonly referred to as blanket washes) for lithographic printing. The simultaneous consideration of associated process constraints, property requirements, and environmental restrictions makes the blanket wash design a rather difficult problem. To address this, we present a framework for designing cleaning solvent blends that meet thermo-physical property requirements and environmental restrictions. The resulting mathematical program is a mixed-integer optimization problem involving (a) the selection of solvents from a set of pure component solvents (the discrete problem) and (b) finding the blend composition (the continuous problem). The framework has been used to solve an industrially relevant problem of designing optimal blends for blanket wash applications in the printing industry taking into account solvent power, viscosity and surface tension.

A Multi-Criteria Analysis Model under an Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Environment with an Application to Production Project Decision Problems
Using Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) to solve complicated decisions often includes uncertainty, which could be tackled by utilizing the fuzzy sets theory. Type-2 fuzzy sets consider more uncertainty than type-1 fuzzy sets. These fuzzy sets provide more degrees of freedom to illustrate the uncertainty and fuzziness in real-world production projects. In this paper, a new multi-criteria ana...

In order to study the effect of irrigation interval, N fertilization and plant density on yield and yield components of fenugreek, a split-split-plot experiment was conducted in Darmian, Iran in spring 2010. The experiment was conducted in randomized complete block design with three replications. The main plots were subjected to different irrigation intervals of 5 and 10 days. The sub-plots wer...
متن کاملA contribution to approximate analytical evaluation of Fourier series via an Applied Analysis standpoint; an application in turbulence spectrum of eddies
In the present paper, we shall attempt to make a contribution to approximate analytical evaluation of the harmonic decomposition of an arbitrary continuous function. The basic assumption is that the class of functions that we investigate here, except the verification of Dirichlet's principles, is concurrently able to be expanded in Taylor's representation, over a particular interval of their do...
متن کاملApplication of Collocation Method in Finding Roots
In this paper we present a new method to find simple or multiple roots of functions in a finite interval. In this method using bisection method we can find an interval such that this function is one to one on it, thus we can transform problem of finding roots in this interval into an ordinary differential equation with boundary conditions. By solving this equation using collocation method we ca...

The earned value technique is a crucial and important technique in analysis and control the performance and progress of mega projects by integrating three elements of them, i.e., time, cost and scope. This paper proposes a new version of earned value analysis (EVA) to handle uncertainty in mega projects under interval-valued fuzzy (IVF)-environment. Considering that uncertainty is very common i...
